In some countries, people could be offended if you reveal too much skin (especially in places of worship).

As a sign of respect it is a good idea to cover your skin in places of worship, especially your shoulders, arms and legs.

In some countries is it generally wise to have a look at how people are dressed and what is considered acceptable. Even if people won't say anything to your face, you could offend them by not respecting their traditions.

In some countries you will find shawls and/or long skirts at the entrance of temples for tourists who are insufficiently covered.
